$1m in applications for Tweed community grants
“…possibility of some projects starting before Christmas…”
Tweed community groups have lodged funding applications totalling nearly one million dollars for the State Government’s Community Building Partnerships program, Tweed Nationals MP Geoff Provest has announced.
“I have received a great range of applications mainly from Tweed sports clubs, but also preschools and neighbourhood centres,” Mr Provest said.
“Unfortunately, there is only $400,000 available for the Tweed electorate so some will inevitably miss out.”
The MP has set up a panel of Tweed community leaders to help him assess the applications.
They are P&C President of Kingscliff High School, Felicia Cecil; former Tweed Police Chief Inspector and member of Banora Point Rate Payers Association, Rod Bates; and Twin Towns Ex Services Club Chairman, Mike Fraser.
“We will work together on prioritising these projects before sending our recommendations to the Department of Premier and Cabinet in Sydney,” Mr Provest said.
“The State Government has promised to make a final decision by the end of November, with the possibility of some projects starting before Christmas,” Mr Provest concluded.
